Organised by the International Maritime Club (IMC) and the International Maritime Institute (IMI), in
association with Aries Energy, Aries International Maritime Research Institute (AIMRI), and Indian Maritime
University Visakhapatnam Campus, Vangali. The summit brought together leading figures from the maritime
industry, academia, and the student community for an impactful day of learning and engagement.
With the objective of bridging classroom learning with real-world industry expectations, the summit emphasised
emerging career avenues across both sea-going and shore-based domains. Students gained insights into the
evolving maritime landscape, exploring opportunities in logistics, offshore operations, marine law, renewable
energy, ship management, maritime entrepreneurship, and more. The atmosphere remained vibrant throughout
the event, driven by inspiring discussions, active participation, and a shared vision of building the next
generation of maritime talent.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Kesavadev V. K., Director, IMU Visakhapatnam
Campus, who highlighted the importance of aligning academic education with the evolving requirements of the
maritime industry. This was followed by the presentation of mementos to the distinguished speakers and a group
photograph with Sir Sohan Roy, the speakers, and the faculty members of IMU Visakhapatnam, reinforcing the
collaborative spirit of Mighty Mariner 2026 – IMU Visakhapatnam
The summit was headlined by Sir Sohan Roy (Founder-Chairman, Aries Group, IMC, IMI, AIMRI & Aries
Energy), whose keynote address titled “Professional Voyage on Efficiency” inspired students to approach their
maritime careers with innovation, adaptability, and a long-term professional vision. His address set the tone for
the summit by emphasising efficiency, leadership, and continuous learning as essential elements of success in
the maritime industry.
The event featured expert sessions by eminent maritime professionals, including Mr. Sunny Verma (Scientist E,
NSTL-DRDO | Naval Architect) on Career Prospects for Naval Architecture students; Mr. Surya Prakasa Raju
Mudunuri (Vice President, Seatech Integrated Technology Pvt. Ltd.), Er. Bindhu Mohan K (Chief Engineer;
Chairman & Managing Director, M/s KVA Rao Marine Technocrats Pvt. Ltd.), Mr. S. V. Durga Prasad (Marine
Engineer, Legal Advisor & Training Consultant, Indian Ship Technology Centre) and Prof. Kolavennu K. K.
Chand (Managing Director, Magic Tree Info Solutions Pvt. Ltd.; Marine Engineer) on Sustainability in the
maritime sector, making Mighty Mariner 2026 a highly impactful and inspiring platform for future maritime
professionals.
Students experienced a holistic day of learning, interacting directly with experts, participating in engaging
discussions, and gaining clarity on modern maritime career pathways. Certificates were awarded to all
participants, and the summit was conducted in both physical and virtual modes to ensure wider accessibility and
inclusivity. Many students expressed that the event broadened their perspective, enabling them to see the
maritime industry beyond traditional sailing roles.
The summit concluded on an inspiring note, strengthening its mission to shape the future of maritime careers
and equipping young professionals with clarity, direction, and confidence to step into the industry.
