Renowned Insurance personalities honored at IMC Golden Shield Excellence Awards 2016

Sharjah, 14 Jan 2016: -  International Maritime Club (IMC), organizing IMC Golden Shield Excellence Awards 2016 to honor the stalwarts from Marine, Energy and Oil & Gas Insurance Sector. The event was scheduled at Ocean Blue Theatre, Sharjah. The award function was inaugurated by Dr. Rashid Al Leem, Chairman, Sharjah Electricity & Water Authority (SEWA) and H E Khamis Juma Buamim, The Dubai Council for Marine & Maritime Industries (DCMMI)& Chairman of the Federal committee for the revision & update of the UAE maritime law.

IMC Golden Shield Excellence Awards honored individuals and organizations, that have provided excellent services to Marine, Energy, Oil & Gas Insurance Sector under 25 categories. The recipient of these awards were top notch personnel's who have demonstrated highest level of professionalism, contributed towards the development of the insurance field and served as a role model for current and future maritime insurance / brokerage professionals. The nominations for the awards were received insurance professionals in the maritime industry and were reviewed by the IMC panel of judges. The awards were purely based on individual merits and their personal contribution for furthering the developments in the maritime industry. The event was telecast live.

Besides the Award presentation, the event also saw some renowned experts share their expertise with the audience on topics including Costa Concordia – A Insurer’s perspective, Understanding - Insurance Brokerage Distribution Channel in today’s climate and Why should you think of Takaful when there is insurance.

Minhas,Divisional Head, Marine Department, Al Futtaim Willis Co LLC, Excellence in Engineering- Underwriting was presented toNarayan Iyer,Senior Vice President – Non Motor Claims, Union Insurance Company, Excellence in Marine Hull- Brokeragewas bestowed uponV.P. Devanandan,Managing Director, Gulf Ocean Int’l Insurance Brokers LLC andBalaji Ganapathy,Senior Vice President - Head of Non-Life Claims, Oman Insurance Company was presented withExcellence in Marine Cargo- Underwriting.

Excellence in Marine Liability- Underwritingwas bestowed uponTarik Al Soulaiman,Head of General Claims, Al Khazna Insurance Company P. S. C,Excellence in Energy – Downstream- Underwritingwas presented to Sultan Ghani, Executive Vice President, Qatar Insurance CompanyBest Marine Law Firm was being bestowed uponInce and Co. Excellence in Regional P and I Coverwas bestowed uponslamic P and I Club. Karthick Gowri Sanker,Manager- Marine Practice, Lockton Companies Inc was presented with the Rising Star Award andBest Insurance Company.Award was presented toAbu Dhabi National Insurance Company. Excellence in Cargo Claims Management was bestowed upon Capt. Peter Valles,General Manager - Surveyors & Loss Adjusters Division, Inchcape Shipping Services,Excellence in Marine Claim Management was award to Meena Mathews, Regional Manager P&I – Middle East Region, GAC,Hema Padmanabhan,Chief Underwriting Officer- Commercial Lines, ADNIC was declared the Insurance Professional of the Year – Women, Excellence in Marine Liability- Brokerage was presented toAftab Hasan,Chief Executive Officer, Arya Insurance Co (LLC),Excellence in Yacht Insurance –Brokeragewas presented to Stephen Massey, Managing Director, City Marine and Excellence in Takaful insurance was bestowed upon AbuDhabi National Takaful Insurance . Excellence in Marine Hull- Underwriting was won by Jason Light,CEO, EMINSCO , Excellence in Marine Cargo- Brokerage won by George Nahra,CEO, NASCO and Excellence in Energy – Upstream- Brokerage was won by Atinc Yilmaz , CEO of MARSH.Excellence in Yacht Insurance –Underwriting was bestowed uponKamal Sartawi,General Manager, Al Dhafra Insurance Co. PSC.
