To develop new and compelling ways to promote interest in marine research and innovation EMEC has partnered with Marine BizTV, the first satellite TV channel covering the marine industry worldwide in July, 2008. The main intent of the partnership is for EMEC to provide content to MarineBiz TV from an European perspective, keeping a worldwide audience up to date with the latest opportunities and developments in the field, and at the same time reaching a wider audience interested in the activity of the leading companies in the industry. The partnership is strategically important for the Marine Equipment industry as a whole, as it is especially targeted towards students and young professionals specialising in the Marine field. EMEC and MarineBiz TV are both developing new and compelling ways to promote interest in marine research and innovation, and expect the results to be beneficial to the whole industry by ultimately addressing the skill shortage which has been affecting it for years. Also, this joint effort by MarineBiz TV and EMEC is aimed at bridging the gap between different practices and policies in the European and Asian Marine Industry, opening new channels of communication between different perspectives and promoting the European Marine Equipment industry across the global market.

Trade boost in sight as Marseilles and Mumbai sign twinning agreement The Port of Marseilles, France and the Port of Mumbai, India's fifth largest port, have signed a twinning agreement enabling the cooperation on trade development, engineering, management and security issues. Trade between Marseilles-Fos and India is currently modest. Marseilles' director-general Jean-Claude Terrier and Mumbai's director-general Rahul Asthana signed the agreement. Container Shipping Information Service (CSIS) is launching a new set of resources designed for schools. Its aim is to provide teachers with the tools and information to introduce discussions on global trade and container shipping into the classroom. Among the new resources is an interactive animated video which allows users to follow the journey of certain products from source to store with quizzes and information pit-stops along the way. Also available are a ready-made container shipping presentation covering everything from history to interesting facts and figures, and a pack of information about the crucial Panama Canal. You can view the new CSIS resources at www.shipsandboxes.com/. These new educations resources follow a BBC initiative launched in September in collaboration with CSIS. The Box project follows a BBC-branded shipping container around the world as it transports a variety of consumer goods. London-based international engineering and project management company AMEC and the marine heavy lifting company Sea Metric International have signed a cooperation agreement to provide a new international offshore decommissioning service for clients. Andresen, added: "Cooperation with AMEC is a major step towards realizing the potential of [Twin Marine Lifter projects], particularly in the North Sea platform decommissioning market."
